COVID Return to work plan
COVID Prepared Plan for Rootz Salon & Boutique
Our number one priority is keeping our staff and guests safe as we re-open our salon. We are excited to be back behind the chair, and are committed to moving forward with caution to ensure we are part of the solution in the COVID challenge our global community is facing.
Thank you for your co-operation and ongoing support during these challenging times!
What to expect when you come to the salon
When you arrive to your appointment please come in and someone will be up to screen you shortly. We cannot accommodate extra bodies in the salon, so we ask you not to bring friends or children. Please come on time for your appointment, as we may not be able to let you in early or late.
When we come outside to greet you we will go through a COVID pre-screen process. During the pre-screen and greeting we will…
- do a contactless temperature check
-COVID questionnaire which consists of these questions:
*do you have an unusual cough or any respiratory symptoms?
*do you feel sick, at all? We ask you to reschedule if you’re feeling any illness, even if it’s not characteristic of COVID, let’s keep everyone healthy
*have you travelled outside the country within the past 14 days?
*have you had contact with someone having respiratory symptoms in the past 14 days?
-get you to put on your mask, or provide you with one
-provide you with hand sanitizer
What to expect during your appointment
Your stylist and you will wear a mask for the entire appointment. The station will be disinfected before we bring you into the salon. The shampoo station will also be disinfected between guests. The cape we used will be freshly laundered and our tools will be sanitized, as usual. We will be suspending our beverage service, however if you choose to bring your own, please bring a straw so you can enjoy without removing your mask. If you forget, we have some!
Physical distancing will be achieved between you and other guests by spacing our styling stations at least 2 metres apart, or using plexiglass barriers where not possible. The wash stations now have plexiglass barriers where we cannot space guests 2 metres apart.
There will be hand sanitizer around the salon for use whenever you feel necessary. We ask that if you use the restroom you wash your hands for 30 seconds.
Please bring as few items with you as possible to your appointment, the more ‘things’ you bring, the more surfaces there are to be aware of. If you wear a jacket, bring it with you to the station and store it on the counter space in front of you. The coat rack, magazines and other communal items have been removed for the time being.
Things to consider regarding masks
Make sure you wear a mask that attaches around your ears, NOT by tying behind your head.
If you’re coming in for a colour service, consider whether you care if the mask you bring gets stained. If you usually need to spend some time removing stain from your hairline, chances are your mask will probably be in the line of fire.
You can’t remove the mask, at all.
Other precautions we have implemented
All staff have taken specific training in COVID safety.
We have installed a HEPA filter in our HVAC system which filters particles, including virus.
We have installed Plexiglass at our reception area, and shampoo stations as previously mentioned.
Our staff area is also adhering to the physical distancing requirements. All staff are screened on arrival to work using the same procedures we have for guests.
Staff are not to come to work if they feel sick. This has always been our policy, but during these times, we are being extra cautious. If staff are sick they are to contact their physician for guidance before returning to work.
A few last things to consider
It’s going to be harder to communicate with masks on, so bringing pictures will help!
Please contact us if you have any questions, comments or concerns!
We need to follow this plan 100% and cannot make any exceptions. If you’re wondering about express services or how you could minimize your time in salon there’s things we can do, just ask!
